The Bouncing Barrel is a well-established Herne Bay micropub named after the bouncing bombs tested off the nearby coast before Operation Chastise. The pub has built a strong reputation around a regularly changing selection of independent cask beer.
Inside, bench seating runs around old workshop-style tables, giving the compact room a practical, friendly layout. A mural of a Lancaster bomber flying past Reculver Towers adds a strong local link to the pub’s name and history.
Beer: A regularly changing range of cask ales, often including Kent breweries, plus real cider.
Current status: Temporarily closed for refurbishment. CAMRA expects the pub to reopen on or before 28 November 2026.
Normal listed hours: Mon–Tue 16:30–21:00; Wed–Fri 12:00–15:00 & 18:00–21:00; Sat 12:00–21:00; Sun 12:00–16:00.

The pub is on Bank Street in the town centre, close to local bus stops and within walking distance of Herne Bay railway station and the seafront.
