BUY ME A PINT
Early start on a Saturday morning and heading up to Darton (between Wakefield Kirkgate and Barnsley stations), with a stop at Wakefield for breakfast on route!
Nailmaker Brewery Taproom
First call of the day a 5 minute walk from the station via a shortcut (although we walked the long way around). A great brewery and taproom situated on an industrial estate. Also home to Watertons Reserve Gin.

On entering you have a shop filled with cans, gins, gifts, glasses and lots more. On carrying on you come into the tap room seating area (with the bar just off to the left)

Great selection on the bar including Cask, Keg, Ciders and In house produced gins, something for everyone! I went for Cardinal Sin – 4.4% ABV Hoppy Pale and Chinook – 4% ABV American Pale

Darton Tap
A 5 minute walk from Nailmaker via the shortcut we now knew about. Small bar with 4 Cask Ales on and a few keg beers. Was surprised to see Stones Bitter (alas not the original), but with help from Molson Coors the beer has been brewed as near to the original recipe as could be done.

Anvil Arms
A few minutes walk along the road brought us to The Anvil Arms, a great little Micropub owned by Nailmaker Brewery. 6 Cask, 2 Ciders and 12 Keg beers on here so a very good choice and some really good breweries. Id spotted Fernandes – Limelite (Kaffir Limed Blonde), which turned out to be a good choice!

Talbot Inn
After a bus ride up to Mapplewell (theres a Pub Hopper runs from 3pm which does a circular around pubs in Darton, Mapplewell and surrounding villages at £2.50 per hop), we first went into the Talbot Inn for dinner. Id read some reviews about the food been really good and it didn’t disappoint. Also had a good range of Nailmaker Cask and Keg beers, but spotted Rat Brewery – The Snowrat so went with that.

The Old Bakery
Just down the road from the Talbot Inn was The Old Bakery, a small little Micropub serving 4 Cask Ales and 1 Cider. Lovely atmosphere inside which was different to elsewhere we had visited during the day so far.

Bottle & Co
Literally around the corner from The Old Bakery was Bottle & Co. A Bottle and Can shop which served a few beers from Kegs. Plucked for Equator from Ridgeside Brewery, a very refreshing Pineapple and Grapefruit IPA

The Wentworth Arms
Last call before getting the Pub Hopper back to Darton for the train home. Situated opposite Bottle & Co and again owner by Nailmaker Brewery. Went for the Citra Pale Ale by Nailmaker Brewery here.
