BUY ME A PINT
After a ride over to Manchester, boarded the service from Manchester Piccadilly to Levenshulme (only a short journey)

Fred’s Ale House
First call after getting off the train was Fred’s Ale House, a mere 2 minutes walk from the station. All 3 bars here are situated along the same road.

Good selection of 7 beers on here from both local and national breweries. Went with the Hophurst – Sonnet (Blonde Ale), really good choice.

Overdraught
A couple of doors up the road to Overdraught. A keg bar with an impressive 30 keg lines. An amazing choice of pale, dark, sours, lagers and more.

2 sours I fancied from this menu. Pilot – Peach Melba Sour and Vault City – Raspberry, Coconut Ripple. Both good choices!

Levenshulme Bee
The “Bee with No Name” from Bee in the City 2018 is still located at the Village Green. Seen here in 2018 https://flic.kr/p/27f11Zj

Station Hop
A few minutes walk up the road is Station Hop, which opens at 2pm on a Sunday. What looks like a small bar from the front has ample seating further back.

A fantastic range on here again (10 Keg, 2 Cask). 2 new Vault City beers id not had before on here – DDH Pink Hard Lemonade (8%) and a collaboration with Pastore – Cieli Notturn! (6%) Dark Pastry Sour.

Irlam Station
Back to the station for the train back to Manchester and change at Manchester Oxford Road for a train to Irlam

Nicely done up station including Signal Box, history of signalling and a loco and wagons from the Manchester Ship Canal.

The Grocers
A short 10 minute walk from the train station to Cadishead (passing the site of the old Cadishead Railway Station) to The Grocers. A great small micropub which was pretty full when entered. Everyone really friendly and had a good chat.

Two really good breweries available here. Millstone – Tiger Rut / Thirst Class Ales – Mersey Mild. Decided on a pint of the Mild, dont often see a lot of mild on cask available, and a really good choice!

Station Irlam
Opened on 26th March 2015 after being renovated from the long term closed railway buildings. Superbly done to a very high standard with a platform side beer garden and covered with railway memorabilia.

One cask ale on here from local brewery Seven Bro7hers. Hoppy Pale – 3.8%. Nice delicious pint enjoyed outside in the beer garden in the sun!

Ol Craft Bar
Last time I visited this bar in “Hatch” is was also a brewery, but they havent brewed since last year I was informed. 5 minute walk from Manchester Oxford Road station.

Again a good range of craft beers on here, went with Evil Twins sour (a Brewery I visited in Brooklyn in 2019).

Bundobust Brewery
Just down the road was Bundobusts new restaurant. Ive visited Bundobust in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool but this was the first id heard of them brewing themselves. Looked a great setup with all tanks visible to customers

As always with Bundobust a great range of beers including 2 Cask beers. I went with one of their own beers brewed on site (Peela – 4% Pale) and a collaboration between Bundobust and North Brewing (Salted Lime Sour – 4.2%). Both of which were excellent.

Society – Vocation Brewing Co
Situated next to Bridgwater Hall is Vocation Breweys Bar “Society”. Similar to Assembly Underground in Leeds with shared seating and lots of food stalls around with a main bar.

A fantastic range of beers on here of all styles. 4 sours here for me to sample. 2 from Vocation Brewery, 1 from Kirkstall Brewery and one from Wander Beyond.

Seven Bro7hers
Last call of the day. Seven Bro7hers Brewery, slightly out from Piccadilly Gardens (10 min walk). Nice location surrounded by other bars and restaurants.

A good range of beers on here again, most being from their own brewery. Went for “Talking Rhubarb”, the only sour beer on the menu.

Brilliant article. I don’t like far from Levenshulme and never knew Freds was decent, and had no idea about the others. Still haven’t been to Bundobust so that’s next
