BUY ME A PINT
After some photographing in the morning after an early start heading up from Glasgow, I got on the train from Dyce into Aberdeen.

The Craftsman Company
First call was into The Craftsman Company a few minutes walk down the road from the train station. Inside a nice old building, the space is really open inside.

Up to 16 Craft Keg lines available here (7 available today with it being midweek). Went for something local – Cranchan Killer by Fierce Beer, a refreshing Raspberry Pale Ale.

Aitchies Ale House
Very traditional Scottish Pub, serving one cask ale along with Tennents and Belhaven among others on draught

The cask on offer was Orkney Brewery – Dark Island, a traditional Scottish style ale.

Prince of Wales
This is one of the oldest bars in Aberdeen (and the longest bar in the city). Run by Greene King.

4 Cask Ales to choose from here. 2 of the usual (Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale), the other 2 being Swannay Brewery – Island Hopping and Mor – Scode! (From a small Micro Brewery in Dundee), went for the latter and was impressed with how much flavour the beer had.

The Stag
A lovely Scottish themed pub, and covered inside (and out) with stags, including the amazing light fittings (seen in the photo below). Formerly known as The Star & Garter.

3 Cask Ales available here. Went with Orkney Brewery – Red McGregor – a delicious Scottish red ale.

The Grill
A old pub in the city centre, which was redesigned inside in 1926. It is the only pub listed in CAMRA’s National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors in the area, the plain glass rectangles at the front were used for Guinness advertising boards hung inside.

Until 1975 this pub was limited to “Men Only” and even after this, the pub didn’t have a ladies toilet until 1998.

3 cask ales on here all Scottish. Went with Red Lady by Redcastle Brewery in Arbroath, again another great Red Ale!

Fierce Beer
A brewery based in Aberdeen so cant not call in here. Visited their bar in Edinburgh 2 years ago.

A few id had before on the big list of beers, but decided on “Rhubarb” a fruity pale ale which id not seen before. Really enjoyed this, not too overpowering with the rhubarb flavour.

OGV Taproom
A brewery id not heard of before “OGV” but this taproom was a short walk from Fierce Brewery. Before covid you could serve yourself to beer so hopefully this will come back again. Lovely outdoor space at the front aswell.

A brilliant range on here of their own beers alongside others. Noticed the Vault City – Grapefruit Lemonade Crush id not tried before so started with this, before moving onto one of their own beers Northern Nugget. A delicious 3.5% Pale Ale.

The toilets here also had a beer theme – one of the best I’ve seen in pubs.

Casc Bar
Back downhill now to Casc Bar, hidden away down a side street with a small covered beer garden at the front.

On entering you straight away notice the massive bar covered in taps (28 of them).

Lots of good beers on here but settled for The Kernel – Saison Citra and Brewski – Cranberry Sour- both really good choices, especially The Kernel.

Brewdog – Castlegate
Cant visit Aberdeen without a visit to Brewdog (or 2). First one is located at Castlegate – very busy when I got there and lucky to get a seat.

As always an extensive range of beers to choose from, but the 2 sour beers id noticed. Both from Brewdogs outpost breweries. Sour Patriot (Manchester) and Passion Fruit Blitz (Australia). The Manchester one is the red coloured beer.

Brewdog – Union Square
Located in the shopping centre next to the Railway Station on the top floor along with other bars and restaurants.

One sour beer on here (one of their guest beers). Souropod – Papaya & Lychee Kettle Sour by Staggeringly Good Brewery.

Then a quick walk back to the Railway Station to catch my train back to Glasgow Queen Street.
