A Sunday afternoon around St Albans before heading back into London for the train back up North.
Beer Shop
After a steady 10 minute walk I arrived at “Beer Shop”, a bottle shop and bar which ive visited a number of years ago and really enjoyed my visit.

A great selection of 10 cask and keg beers to choose from here, with varying styles and strengths. And of course theres shelves and fridges full to choose from. A large table inside to sit at, aswell as at the front outside.

Started off with “Jazz Club” from Baron Brewing based in Buntingford in Hertfordshire. A really enjoyable Hazy Pale Ale (even more so sat outside with nice weather), followed by a Hazy IPA on Cask which was amazing and one of the best beers ive had for a long time. “Dew” from Gan Yam Brew Co based in Kendal, Cumbria.

The Farmers Boy
An easy walk to the next pub, its directly over the road from the Beer Shop.

A selection of four cask and six keg beers were available. Went with “Pleasure Theory V3” by Floc based in Canterbury. Another Hazy IPA. Great outside area at the back of the pub here aswell with lots of space and seating.

Mad Squirrel Tap
Back up into town for the next bar, the “Mad Squirrel Tap”. Mad Squirrel Brewery is based in Potten End, Hertfordshire.

Another bar with a great selection of keg beers, a number of their own alongside a great selection of guests. Started with “Dolce Vita”, a sour beer from Mad Squirrel in collaboration with Heist Brew Co in Sheffield.

A great outdoor area here with a view of St Albans Abbey.

Dylans @ The Kings Arms
Onto Dylans @ The Kings Arms next. The building dates from the 15th century and was formerly known as the Old Kings Arms. A couple of real ales and ciders available along with a selection of eight keg beers. Enjoyed two sour beers from Tiny Rebel Brewing Co here.

The Peahen
Last call in St Albans before heading back for the train was to “The Peahen”. A large pub on the corner which serves food aswell as real ale/keg beers.

Started off with IPA by Rivertown Brewery based in Hertford. They also had a SIPA, Pilsner and a Pale Ale.

Finished off with “Original IPA” from McMullen & Sons. A brewery which has been brewing since 1827 in Hertford. A bitter was also available.
