BUY ME A PINT

A local visit to Normanton, West Yorkshire to visit a new bottle shop that opened this week (alongside being able to drink in), aswell as a trip up to Tarn 51 Brew Pub “The Robin Hood” at Altofts.

Craft Booze Co

My first call is to “Craft Booze Co”, a new beer shop that opened up officially on Monday. Located in the Westfield Market area of Normanton, a small market square area with a grocers, bike shop, hairdressers and a cupcake shop. Up to date beer lists can be found on their website for ordering or click and collect. CLICK HERE

Run by “Andy”, this shop has a fantastic range of beers from both local and further afield breweries aswell as a choice of ciders. All drinks are either takeaway or drink in (IPAs, Pales, Sours etc are all in the fridge, with the darker beers at room temperature). Currently open from Mon-Sat (ex Wed) from 9am until 5pm.

Started off with a couple of sours in cans. Started with “Pineapple Upside Down Cake” from Three Hills Brewing in Woodford, Northamptonshire, A really tasty and tart sour beer, packed full of fruit. I then went onto “Summer Fruit Punch” from 71 Brewing in Dundee. A tangy hazy delight of a beer, again packed full of fruity flavours. Was great to bump into “The Crafty Jedi” while in here aswell. Check out his beer reviews HERE.

Currently one beer on draught (with plans to add more aswell as some outside seating). The draught beer on today was “Beyond Redemption” from Leeds based Wilde Child Brewery. A delicious Pineapple Milkshake Pale. The live beer board is hosted using Real Ale Finder. CLICK HERE (or follow them on the Real Ale Finder app).

The Robin Hood

A short bus ride from Normanton Market Place to Altofts to visit “The Robin Hood”. A great community pub aswell as housing “Tarn 51” brewery on site which started brewing in 2016. A 3 barrel microbrewery. Lots of seating both inside the pub over several rooms, and a large beer garden great for sunny days.

A choice of 4 cask ales available today, 2 of which were from the on site Tarn 51 Brewery. “Altofts Blonde” and “Birkwood Bitter”, alongside beers from Small World Beers and Tigertops. I went with “Altofts Blonde” a really refreshing Blonde beer.
