BUY ME A PINT
A Saturday evening trip over to Wrexham, known for its football team, Wrexham Football Club. Founded in 1864, the club is one of the oldest professional teams in the world. Whilst here I visited three places starting with “Magic Dragon Brewery Tap”, onto “The Drunk Monk” and lastly newly opened “Rough Hands Tap”.
Magic Dragon Brewery Tap
Concluding the day with three visits in Wrexham, which is a brief train ride from Chester. My initial stop is the “Magic Dragon Brewery Tap”, located in Wrexham. The establishment originally functioned as the Elephant & Castle before transitioning through various businesses and eventually returning to its roots as a pub. The atmosphere is vibrant, bustling with patrons and featuring live music. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with David during my visit.

The pub offers a remarkable variety of six cask ales alongside an extensive selection of kegs. I opted for the “Green One,” a pale ale infused with Citra hops, which is light and easy to drink, showcasing delightful flavours.

The Drunk Monk
A brief stroll through the town leads me to my second visit, “The Drunk Monk”, situated in Overton Arcade. This vibrant bar is renowned for its craft beers. The establishment features two indoor rooms and a covered outdoor seating area within the arcade. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Dannii and Kieron during my visit today.

They provide a wide array of draft selections in addition to numerous canned choices. Today, there is an impressive assortment of eight keg beers and lagers available at the bar, and I have chosen to enjoy the “Caught in the (B)rain” from SALT Brewery, located in Yorkshire. This particular offering is a delicious and flavorful Pina Colada pale ale.

Rough Hands Tap
My final destination during my trip was “Rough Hands Tap”, situated in Chapter Court. This recently opened craft beer bar features a contemporary and minimalist design, complete with bench seating and a bar constructed from scaffolding poles and wood. A DJ enhances the atmosphere, contributing to the overall experience. The warm welcome I received here was great.

The tap offers an excellent selection of craft beers on tap, along with additional options available in cans within the refrigerator. I chose to select “Rolling Papers” from Bullhouse Brew Co., located in Belfast. This delightful hazy IPA has undergone multiple dry hopping processes, which contribute to its exceptional flavour profile.
