About Me

Scott Spencer

I started Micropub Adventures out of a simple love for good beer, characterful pubs, and the stories behind them. There’s something uniquely special about a micropub—the intimacy, the conversation, and the sense of community you find within four small walls. Unlike big chains, these independent spaces are often labours of love, run by passionate owners who care deeply about the beer they pour and the people they welcome. For me, exploring these hidden gems has become more than just a pastime—it’s a way to connect with the heart of Britain’s beer culture.

Independent pubs and breweries are at the core of what I write about. They embody individuality, creativity, and resilience, offering experiences you simply won’t find in mass-market venues. Each one has its own personality, whether it’s a centuries-old coaching inn with creaky floorboards or a newly opened brewery taproom buzzing with fresh ideas. I love walking through the doors not knowing exactly what to expect, only to leave with a new favourite beer and often, a new story to share.

What excites me most about this journey is the diversity of people and places I encounter. Every micropub has its regulars, every independent brewery its loyal fans, and together they form a patchwork of communities bound by a love of good beer and good company. I find real joy in shining a light on these spots, many of which are overlooked or underappreciated because they deserve to be celebrated and supported.

Through Micropub Adventures, I want to inspire others to step off the beaten track and seek out these remarkable establishments. There’s a real magic in finding a tiny bar tucked away on a quiet street or discovering a brewery that’s doing something bold and innovative. For me, this blog isn’t just about beer, it’s about adventure, independence, and the people who make the pub experience unforgettable.
