Chesterfield Great Historic Pub Tour
A jaunty history field trip with a new route for 2026 that includes three new pubs we’ve been dying to get to, every one of the six town centre pubs listed in the Good Pub Guide, plus two more that are destined to make the grade soon.
Guidance from, and back to, the train station is available. The tour starts at 12 noon from the Pig & Pump on St Mary’s Gate and is dog friendly. With thirty minutes at each of the eight pubs, the tour finishes about 5pm, but covers a distance of around a mile.
Dates are: Saturday 9th May, Saturday 6th June, Saturday 4th July, Saturday 1st August and Saturday 5th September
Brampton Mile Great Historic Pub Crawl
The Brampton Mile Pub Crawl has been Chesterfield’s most formidable drinking challenge for many years. The mile has changed since the days when completing it made you a local legend but with 19 places to buy a drink, it’s still a noble endeavour.
You will hear all about the history of each pub, along with the stories of pubs, people and industries long since gone. We allow thirty minutes per pub to purchase the drink of your choice but we recommend a half. We run on selected bank holiday Sundays, and to add an additional degree of difficulty, we will be doing it in reverse.
Starting from the Junction, on Chatsworth Road, at 12pm, stopping at almost every pub and finishing at the Star, around 8.30pm.
So many have tried and failed without a guide to get them through. Get the gang together and book a great day out.
Dates are: Sunday 3rd May, Sunday 24th May, and Sunday 30th August
Bakewell Great Historic Pub Tour
How much do you really know about Bakewell?
One of the most attractive market towns in all of England, Bakewell has a history that many are unaware of. An excellent way to learn more is to join our Great Historic Pub Tour, a gentle wander through the living archive of the town. Murders, ghosts and even a mad elephant.
Join our informative blind tour guide and hear all about the people, places and stories whilst enjoying the warm Derbyshire welcome at each venue, where you can purchase a drink of your choice.
Starting at 12 noon in the Red Lion and moving on to a new venue every 30 minutes or so, the total walking distance is less than a mile. Finishing around 5pm, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people and have a good laugh. Real ales at every venue and dog friendly. At the end of the tour, you have the option of visiting the Thornbridge Brewery Tap House for the rest of the evening.
Dates are: Saturday 25th April, Saturday 30th May, Saturday 27th June, Saturday 25th July, Saturday 15th August and Saturday 12th September
