About Cannock

Cannock is an old Staffordshire market town on the southern edge of Cannock Chase. A settlement was recorded here in the Domesday Book and a weekly market was granted in 1259. The town grew quickly with coal mining during the 19th century, while brick, tile and iron industries were also important locally. The historic market area and St Luke’s Church still give the centre some of its older character.
