Berry Brow is a semi-rural village in West Yorkshire, situated about 2 miles south of Huddersfield. Historically, it was centred around Deadmanstone, a notable rock formation with a natural tunnel, and was recorded in 1584 as part of the Lockwood family’s estate. The village underwent significant transformation in the 1960s when rows of traditional terraced cottages were demolished to make way for modern housing developments, including two 17-storey tower blocks and rows of bungalows.

The Railway Pub in Berry Brow has been a central part of the community since the late 19th century. Originally named the Railway Hotel, it was established shortly after the opening of Berry Brow railway station in 1850. The pub’s location at the corner of Station Lane and School Lane made it a convenient stop for travellers and locals alike. Over the years, the Railway has maintained its traditional charm while adapting to modern times, becoming known for its selection of well-kept cask ales and its role as a social hub for the village .
