Dodworth

Dodworth started out as a township in the Silkstone parish and became its own civil parish in 1866. The village showcases a blend of contemporary homes and historical landmarks, like St John the Baptist Church and traces of its mining heritage. It grew as a coal mining hub, with a lot of mining going on until the late 20th century. Today, the old colliery site has been transformed into Dodworth Business Park. Over the years, Dodworth’s population has increased, and you can find some impressive historical structures along the High Street, including cottages that date back to the 1600s.

Dodworth Tap is a bar located in Dodworth. Inside, you’ll find a striking design with exposed stone walls, a cosy semi-circular stone fireplace, diverse lighting options, and a sturdy wooden floor. A large mural showcasing the old local colliery enhances the pub’s atmosphere. The outdoor area at Dodworth Tap is especially appealing, boasting several drinking spots—many of which are covered—and a distinctive ‘dungeon’ area made from an old brick garage.
