Penistone is a small town in South Yorkshire, England, with a long history. It was first mentioned in a book called the Domesday Book in 1086. The town started as a farming and wool-making place. In the 1800s, the railway arrived, helping the town grow by bringing more trade and jobs. Penistone is known for its old church, St. John the Baptist, built in the 1200s, and its yearly agricultural show, one of the oldest in the country.
