New Mills is treated as one stop on the trail even though it uses two railway stations. New Mills Newtown is on the Manchester–Buxton line and New Mills Central is on the line towards Marple and Manchester, with the two linked on foot through the town. About New Mills
New Mills grew around the rivers Goyt and Sett and the mills built into the deep local gorge. The town’s two railway stations sit on different lines, which is why this stop forms the walking link that joins the two halves of the Three Counties trail.
