Head of Steam, Huddersfield

The Head of Steam opened at Huddersfield railway station in 1996 and sits on the opposite side of the station from the King’s Head, creating the well-known real ale “bookends”. It occupies the former ticket office and has entrances from St George’s Square and Platform 1. Inside, the pub is split into four areas around the central bar, with plenty of railway character throughout. One side concentrates on cask ale and cider, while the other carries a wider draught range. It makes an easy second Huddersfield pub without leaving the station.
