The Thames & Medway Rail Ale Trail
The Thames & Medway Rail Ale Trail offers a great way to explore some of Kent’s best independent pubs, micropubs and brewery taps by train. The main route follows the railway line between Rainham and Gravesend, with stops at Gillingham, Rochester, Strood and Gravesend, making it easy to jump on and off throughout the day while discovering different venues along the route. There is also a branch line section linking West Malling, Maidstone and Halling into Strood, adding even more places to explore. Combining rail travel with Kent’s growing real ale scene, the trail showcases historic towns, riverside settings and a wide variety of welcoming pubs across the Thames and Medway area.
By clicking on each stop, you can access detailed information about the featured pubs. This will include a photograph, a link to the map, operating hours, available beverages, and in some cases, live beer boards. In instances where multiple pubs are located at a single stop, you will have the option to select from them. If only one pub is present, the information will be displayed immediately.
