The Magnet opened in February 2019 as a micropub, embracing a fresh, community-driven spirit while honouring local heritage. Its name pays tribute to The Magnet, a boys’ magazine famous for the character Billy Bunter, who was created by a local Broadstairs author. Owners Will and Sam, passionate about quality beer and cider, have crafted a warm and welcoming space where beer take centre stage. This modern revival of The Magnet fosters a genuine love for traditional pub culture, blending Broadstairs’ literary roots with a vibrant, contemporary social feel.
Inside the pub has a warm and welcoming feel, with wooden seating and exposed brick walls creating a cosy, rustic atmosphere. A standout feature is the quirky beer bottle chandelier that adds unique flair, while large windows flood the space with natural light. The décor is playful and full of character, including funny photos in the restrooms that keep the mood light-hearted. The well-stocked bar, featuring a rotating selection of ales and ciders, serves as a lively centrepiece, reflecting the owners’ passion for quality drinks and making The Magnet a vibrant community hub.
