Margate – Cecil Street

Back to the Thanet Loop Ale Trail Homepage

Margate’s a chill seaside town with a cool history. It started out as a fishing village ages ago and then became a popular spot for holidays in the 1700s and 1800s because of its lovely beaches and fresh sea air. Dreamland, the old amusement park, opened in the early 1900s and was a big deal for fun days out. The town had its rough patches but has bounced back with loads of artsy vibes, quirky cafes, and cool independent shops. Now, Margate’s got that perfect mix of classic seaside charm and fresh creative energy.
