Old School Brewery began in 2012 when an old barn at the foot of Warton Crag was turned into a tiny brew house, focused on making proper hand-crafted ales with real care. At first it was all about brewing great beer and getting it out locally, but over time the spot grew into a relaxed bar/pub where you can grab a pint of their own brew, enjoy simple food and chill after a walk or ride. It’s now known for its friendly vibe, quirky setting and cracking pints that keep people coming back.
Inside, Old School Brewery looks like a proper old stone building that’s been gently turned into a place to sit and relax, not polished into something fancy. There are exposed stone walls, chunky wooden beams and a slightly uneven, well-worn feel that shows its age in a good way. Tables and seating are simple and practical rather than matching sets, giving it a laid-back charm. The space feels open but snug at the same time, with low ceilings in parts and a cosy, tucked-away atmosphere. It’s rustic, a bit quirky, and full of character rather than sleek or modern.
On the bar a selection of 5 cask ales along with a couple of keg options to choose from.
Also check out their “Canteen” (Open Thursday-Monday), the canteen serves freshly cooked pub-style food including burgers, loaded/dirty fries, dirty dogs, sharing boxes, pies and other hearty dishes — with the menu changing seasonally, and a Pie Club on a Monday.
