The Crossing opened as a micropub in 2018 in a former café on Coastal Road. Its name reflects two local links: the nearby level crossing on the West Coast Main Line and the old route used for crossing the sands of Morecambe Bay. The building was adapted into a small pub while keeping its strong connection with the railway and the village around it.
Inside, the pub has a U-shaped layout with the bar near the entrance, a wood-burning stove in the middle and another room further back. Railway photographs and other details reflect its location close to the line, while the mix of seating keeps the space compact and comfortable.
