The Snug opened in August 2012 at Carnforth Station and became the North West’s first micropub. Its unusual station-platform setting quickly made it a distinctive stop for real ale drinkers, with trains passing directly outside. Founders Gregg and Jules ran the pub for nine years before retiring in November 2021, when Pete and Iain of Carnforth-based Q Brew took over. The Snug has kept its close connection to the railway and its compact micropub character, while its position at the station makes it an especially easy stop for anyone travelling through Carnforth.

Inside, The Snug is very compact, with painted walls, bare floorboards and tall wooden tables. A large glazed wooden cabinet fills much of one wall, while the small room sits right beside the railway platform. Windows and the station setting keep the trains very much part of the view, and the limited space means everything is close together. It is a small, straightforward interior that suits the micropub setting well.

Beer: CAMRA lists five changing cask ales.

Opening: Mon–Tue 17:00–19:00; Wed–Sat 16:00–21:00; Sun 14:00–17:30
