Carnforth is a compact railway town and a handy starting point for the trail. The Snug is right beside Carnforth railway station, while Taps on the Green is a little further through the town, with both easy to link by foot or local bus.

About Carnforth
Carnforth grew from a small farming village into an important railway town during the 19th century. Its station became a major junction and later found another place in history through the classic film Brief Encounter. The railway still sits at the heart of the town today, making Carnforth a natural starting point for this part of Morecambe Bay.
Getting to Carnforth
Carnforth is served by rail and by the Stagecoach 5 bus used for most of the trail. You can also continue from Carnforth to the optional Warton extension using service 49.
