25/09/22 – Blackpool and Fleetwood

A day out visiting a new Micropub in Fleetwood followed by a few bars around the Pleasure Beach/Airport end of Blackpool (after some heritage trams during the day for the Anniversary Weekend)

Beer Shed

Having only opened the previous day, I headed up to Fleetwood to visit “Beer Shed”. This new Micropub opens the back end of the week through to Saturday.

Today there were two cask beers on aswell as a keg pale ale. They usually offer their own beers aswell (but after being busy on the opening day they didnt have one left on). Went for “Grand Central IPA” by ShinDigger Brewery in Manchester. A refreshing American Pale Ale.

Some great artwork on the wall showing customers the brewery process aswell.

JD Drinkwaters Ale House

Up to Highfield Road in Blackpool now to JD Drinkwaters Ale House, which opened its doors in July 2021. A very smart and welcoming Micropub which was really busy when I went in.

A really good selection of real ales available here (as there was last time I visited in February). Beers from Timothy Taylors, Ainsty Ales, Bristol Beer Factory and Great Newsome Brewery. Decided on “Our House” by Bristol Beer Factory, a delicious and refreshing session pale ale, made completely with English Hops.

Half Way House

Final call of the night was towards Blackpool Airport, to “Half Way House”, a Joseph Holt Pub (a Brewery based in Manchester). A great location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, food and various events during the week.

Three real ales available (Two Hoots, IPA and Bitter) aswell as their craft range (2 Lagers, Stout and Crystal Gold). Went with the IPA and Bitter. The Bitter was great, it was the beer that made Joseph Holt Brewery Famous, and the IPA, very pale but a great session beer.
