BUY ME A PINT

Heading back home today via London. Had time to check out three brewery taps around Camden before dropping into Beer+Burger near Kings Cross. All 3 breweries offered different styles of beers and all really great friendly places.

3 Locks Brewery

A short journey on the Underground from London Bridge to Camden Town on the Northern Line, and a less than 10 minute walk brought me to “3 Locks Brewery” located near to Hawley Lock on the Regent Canal. This lock is in the middle of a trip of locks in Camden Town hence the Brewery name. The brewery opened in November 2022. The tap room is nearest with the brewery being in another unit behind.

A really welcoming place and a great selection of beers all on keg. 8 of their own beers on ranging in styles. I decided to go with their sour beer “Lime & Peppermint Sour”, a unusual combination but one that worked excellently together. A really fresh and tart sour.

Werewolf Beer

Another short 10 minute walk from here brought me to “Werewolf Beer”. A real gem of a place, packed full of fair ground signs, models, ride cars and lots of horror related items. Richard the brewer here is really passionate about his beers, id been through the entire menu here! Really worth dropping into if youre in the area.

The bar and brewing equipment are located in the same room here but theres lots of seating both inside and out. Went through the full range here (Psychobilly – American Pale, Horrorshow – Rye Pale Ale, Creepster – American Brown, Kadillac – Coffee Stout and Moonstomp – Rice Lager), even tried the “Stray Cat” IPA direct from the tank!

Hammerton Brewery Tap

A couple of minutes hop on the overground from Camden Town to Caledonian Road & Barnsbury. Hammerton Brewery Tap is literally next to the station. A large indoor and outdoor space with raised level seating aswell. Great welcome from Michaela and James here.

16 keg lines on today with lots of great choices. A couple of their own sour beers on so went these these, starting with “Kaffir Lime VS”, Lime and Peppermint Sour followed by “Morello VS”, a delicious morello cherry sour. Hand made pizzas served here aswell which looked to be really popular.

Beer + Burger Kings Cross

Jumped on the bus from Hammerton back towards Kings Cross Station. A really short journey. Beer + Burger is a craft beer bar serving some great beets and freshly made burger. Its next to the Grand Union Canal and Londons “Book Barge”

20 leg taps here to choose from, with a fair amount of the breweries being local. Also some fridges as you enter if you want to pick anything up for the train. I went with “P9” from Garage Beer Co from Barcelona. Paired with a delicious Burger and Fries!

Only a 10 minute walk back from here to Kings Cross Railway Station, and enjoyed a nice can of “Hop on Board” brewed by Rudgate Brewery in York.

Those micropubs/craft beer bars in Camden and Kings Cross look great, sadly no real ale, so I won’t be visiting unfortunately, as I don’t like really cold beer unless I am in Tenerife!

Have you ever been to Clarkshaw’s in Loughborough Junction, SE London? Highly recommended. Few other microbreweries around there too. Enjoying your site. Thanks
