BUY ME A PINT

A few calls in London over a weekend whilst attending an event. Firstly a call into the Euston Tap, followed by Micropubs in Hanwell and Northfields, and two Brewery Taps, Hammersmith Brewery and Bullfinch Brewery.

The Euston Tap

My first call of the day was located outside of the front of London Euston station. Located in a Grade II listed West Lodge in Euston Square. The East Lodge was formerly the Cider Tap but has since closed

A great selection here of both cask and keg beers, alongside an extensive bottle and can selection. 16 keg and 6 cask on the bar today. I started with a sour from Fyne Ales and SALT “Sour Friends – Peach, Pineapple”- a great fruity sour, and moved onto “Chula Vista” from Thornbridge Brewery. A tangy Lemon and Sea Salt sour.

The Dodo Micropub

A journey out on the Elizabeth Line from Paddington out to Hanwell, and a short 10 minute walk (took me a bit longer due to a massive downpour), brought me to “The Dodo Micropub”. This opened in 2017 and run by Lucy. A really warm welcome here, and lots of conversation.

A great selection on the bar here, 2 cask beers and 3 keg beers. I went with “Factotum” from Manchester based Pomona Island Brewery. A very tasty delicious pale ale, went back for a second pint of it.

The Owl & The Pussycat

A 25 minute walk to Northfields where my next Micropub to visit is located. “The Owl & The Pussycat”. West Londons first Micropub which opened in December 2016, using a former bookshop.

This Micropub is home to “Marko Paulo Brewery”, a small on site brewery which provides beers on both cask and keg in the bar.

A great choice of 3 cask beers and 6 keg beers available on the bar with a wide range of styles to choose from including pale, bitter, sour, lager and stout.

I started with “Ealinger Weisse”, a tasty Berliner Wiesse, followed by a tasting tray of “Quincy APA”, “Blondins Barrel” (Blonde Ale) and “Turner’s Tank” (Bitter).

Hammersmith Craft Brewery

My next call of the day is to “Hammersmith Craft Brewery”, a short 10 minute or so walk from Hammersmith Underground Station. The taproom can be accessed from the street but is downstairs.

A small tap room/bar is at the bottom of the stairs, the brewery located behind the bar which owner and brewer Joe gave me a tour around.

A choice of 7 beers to choose from today. Including Pale, Amber, Stout and Lager. I started with “Hopptessor #3”, a tasty Hoppy ale, followed by “Hoperation”, another Hoppy Pale Ale. I finished with “Neatly Done”, an easy drinking Session Pale Ale.

Bullfinch Brewery Tap

My only call on Sunday was to “Bullfinch Brewery Tap”, a less than 10 minute walk from Herne Hill Railway Station and next to Brockwell Park. The taproom is inside one of the railway arches. Both indoor and outdoor seating, with fresh pizzas in conjunction with a local pizza shop.

Two of their own brewed beers alongside a great selection of guest beers. Their own 2 beers being “Rascal Session IPA” and “Herne Helles Lager”. I went with the IPA, a tasty and refreshing session IPA.
