BUY ME A PINT
Another trip over to the Fylde Coast, starting with Blackpool visiting “Shickers Tavern”, a new opening for this year and “Thirsty? Alehouse”, which has reopened with new owners after a period of closure. Saturday takes me up to Cleveleys for another new opening “Wobblinn”.
I have created a page which includes all the pubs I have visited on the Fylde Coast, CLICK HERE to view it.
Shickers Tavern
My first call in Blackpool is to “Shickers Tavern”. This opened in January 2024 and is the sister pub to the Shickers Micropub located near Blackpool South Railway Station. “Shicker” being the Yiddish word for “drunk”. A great one roomed pub, well decorated and a great homely and relaxing feel to it. A really warm welcome in here and looks to be proving popular.

On the bar a choice of 3 cask ales, alongside a cider and a number of choices on keg. I went with “Windermere Pale” from Kendal based Hawkshead Brewery. A light and refreshing pale ale using Citra hops. Really enjoyed this beer.

Thirsty? Alehouse
Next is a short walk from the town centre away from the front which brings me to “Thirsty? Alehouse”. I first visited this Micropub a few years ago when it first opened but had closed since. It reopened in March 2024 with new owners. A long pub with the bar to the right part way down. A really nicely decorated pub with lots of seating, as well as a seating area to the rear.

Food offerings each week on different days including home made pizzas, Filipino food and more. I tried one of their home made pizzas, it was really good and excellent value for money. Check this place out if you fancy a drink and some food.

A choice of 3 cask ales on the bar to choose from, alongside a number of keg options. I went with “Heart & Soul”, from Hebden Bridge based Vocation Brewery. A full bodied, fruity session pale ale packed full of flavour.

Wobblinn
My last call is to nearby Cleveleys, a short ride on the tram (or bus) from Blackpool Town Centre. Here I visited “Wobblinn” which only opened on Friday 3rd May 2024 by owners Jeff and Julie who used to have the Weavers in Kidderminster. A fantastic one roomed Micropub with a great seating area outside at the front. The opening has proved popular as it was very busy when I went in.

A great line up of 6 cask ales on and a huge line up of ciders on the bar as well. Started with “Worcestershire Sway” from Bewdley based Bewdley Brewery. A strong blonde ale, a delicious full bodied ale. I went onto “Best Bitter” from Birmingham based Bathams Brewery. A great example of a Black Country style of bitter.
