BUY ME A PINT
Today, I find myself in Lytham on the Fylde Coast, renowned for hosting the prestigious Royal Lytham and St Annes golf course. My day commenced with visits to the “Lytham Windmill” and the “Lytham Lifeboat Museum.” Following these explorations, I proceeded to three nearby establishments for beer, beginning with two that were new to me: the “Lytham Bierhuis” and “Northern Monkey,” before concluding my journey at “The Craft House.”
PART OF THE “FYLDE COAST TRAM & TRAIN ALE TRAIL”

Lytham Bierhuis
My initial stop in Lytham is at “Lytham Bierhuis,” which has opened since my previous visit and opened in March 2024 and it presents an impressive appearance. The establishment features a spacious beer garden at the front, while the interior offers generous seating arranged in several smaller, elegantly decorated rooms, complete with wooden barrels serving as tables and wooden seating and flooring. One particularly striking room at the back utilizes church pews for seating, complemented by an additional beer garden at the rear. The team on duty today provided a wonderfully warm welcome.

Today, the bar features a selection of three cask ales, complemented by an extensive array of keg beers, notably including a significant variety of German brews. For a change, I opted for a fruit beer, specifically “Fruli,” which is a delightful and refreshing strawberry beer. The food menu is equally enticing, offering a wonderful selection of German cuisine alongside traditional favourites.

Northern Monkey
My second visit in Lytham takes me across the street to Northern Monkey, a newly established bar that opened its doors in May 2024. This establishment is the creation of the Bolton-based Northern Monkey Brew Co. The interior presents an impressive arrangement, distinguished by its cleanliness and contemporary design, with a generous bar situated to the right. At the front, patrons can enjoy a glass-enclosed patio area for seating. The food menu appears quite enticing, offering a diverse selection. I received a warm and friendly welcome from the staff behind the bar today.

An excellent assortment of beers is offered, featuring three cask options and sixteen keg lines that showcase a diverse range of styles. I chose “Frank the Tank,” a delightful and smooth hazy IPA produced by Northern Monkey Brew Co.

The Craft House
My final visit was to Lytham’s first micropub, which opened in the summer of 2016. This establishment is notably bustling and well-regarded, offering a vibrant atmosphere. In addition to a diverse selection of beverages, it features an array of Pork Pies and Meat and Cheese boards that patrons can savour alongside their drinks. There is also outdoor seating available for those who wish to enjoy the pleasant weather. This afternoon, I received a delightful and warm welcome from the staff behind the bar.

This afternoon, the bar features a choice of three cask ales, in addition to several keg beers and a traditional cider. I opted for “Tiffin Gold” from Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery, which is an excellent light and citrus-flavored golden ale.
