Freckleton is a small village just south of Kirkham, located near Warton famous for Warton Aerodrome now run by BAE Systems. It also contains a site of Historic Interest for a Freckleton Air Disaster Memorial. On 23 August 1944, a United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Consolidated B-24 Liberator crashed during a test flight into the centre of the village of Freckleton, Lancashire, England, killing all three crewmen aboard the aircraft and 58 individuals on the ground, including 38 children aged four to six.

Freckleton can be conveniently reached by bus, with options including the Number 68 service from Blackpool Market Street to Preston, which travels through Blackpool Airport, St Annes Square, Lytham Square, Warton, and Freckleton. Alternatively, the Number 78 service operates from St Annes Square to Great Eccleston, passing through Ansdell, Lytham Square, Warton, Freckleton, Kirkham, and Wesham.
