Lytham is situated immediately south of Blackpool along the Ribble Estuary. Its name is derived from the Old English term “hlithum,” the plural form of “hlith,” which translates to “place at the slopes.” The town is well-known for the esteemed Royal Lytham and St Annes golf course, a frequent venue for the Open Championship. Additionally, Lytham is home to the historic “Lytham Windmill,” which has been preserved since 1921 and is accessible to the public during the summer months, serving as the headquarters for the Lytham Heritage Trust.
