About North Pier
Blackpool North Pier is the oldest of the town’s three piers. Designed by Eugenius Birch, it opened in May 1863 and was originally intended mainly as a promenade for visitors. Today the pier remains one of Blackpool’s best-known landmarks, with the town centre, Winter Gardens and Blackpool North railway station nearby.
