Aylesford – The Little Gem

The Little Gem, Aylesford

The Little Gem is a tiny historic pub in the heart of Aylesford. Goacher’s bought the Grade II-listed 12th-century building in 2019 after it had stood empty for many years, carefully restoring it before reopening in summer 2021. Today it is one of Goacher’s tied pubs and a strong real ale stop on the Thames & Medway Rail Ale Trail.

About Aylesford

Aylesford is a historic village on the River Medway, best known for its medieval bridge, old High Street and long riverside setting. The village grew around an important crossing point and later developed links with the railway and nearby industries. Today, the centre still keeps plenty of historic character, with timber-framed buildings, narrow streets and the river all close together. Aylesford station sits just south of the village centre, making it an easy stop on the Medway Valley line between Strood and Maidstone.
