About Halling

Halling lies in the Medway Gap where the River Medway cuts through the North Downs. The village stretches between Lower Halling, Upper Halling and North Halling and has long been linked with chalk quarrying, lime and cement. The Medway Valley railway connects Halling with Strood, Maidstone and Tonbridge, while the Pilgrims’ Way passes through the area. Today, the old industrial landscape sits alongside riverside paths, countryside and the village’s surviving historic buildings.
