After taking the Fleetwood Ferry over from Knott End, an afternoon exploring some of the real ale pubs in Fleetwood before dropping into a Micropub in Blackpool before my train home.

The Steamer

The Steamer is one of the oldest surviving pubs in Fleetwood. Inside is very traditional and packed full of photos and memorabilia from Fleetwood and its Maritime History.

Four real ales available on the bar here, 2 from Reedley Hallows Brewery based in Burnley aswell as one from Ringwood Brewery and one from Copper Dragon. Started on “Filly Close Blonde” by Reedley Hallows followed by Pendleside by the same brewery. Both great beers!

Strawberry Gardens

Next stop is “Strawberry Gardens”, set back from the main street in Fleetwood but a pub ive visited many times in the past. A large pub which even has its own Bowling Green at the back of the pub, and offers great food.

A selection of four beers from Lancaster Brewery, Bootleg Brewing Co and Bowness Bay Brewing. Decided to go with “Challenger” by Lancaster Brewery. A refreshing Fruity Pale Ale, perfect for a warm day.

Royal Oak Hotel

Last call in Fleetwood was the “Royal Oak Hotel”, another pub ive visited numerous times when ive been in Fleetwood and always has well kept real ales. This pub again is very traditional and filled with lots of historic photos and maritime memorabilia.

A choice of for real ales today, two from Recoil Craft Brewery, one from Reedley Hallows and one from Bank Top Brewery. Went with “First Trawl” from Reedley Hallows Brewery, especially with the Maritime Name. A refreshing hoppy blonde ale.

Cask and Tap

A call into the “Cask and Tap”, just around the corner from Blackpool North Train Station before my train home. Always a great place to call with a good selection of real ales and craft beers, and not forgetting a fantastic cider selection.

A couple of sour beers to finish off the day, starting with “Chicha Sour” by Hammerton Brewery in Islington, London. This sour beer was based on the traditional Peruvian soft drink “Chicha Morada” and is brewed with Purple Corn. This was followed by Pompelmocello by Siren Craft Brewery in Reading. A fruity and sour Grapefruit beer.
